About me

My name is Karen Hargot and I am instinctively drawn to learning. I seek out awareness, courage, authenticity, diversity, belonging, and joy. I cherish making space for new insights to occur. I am intrigued by the unique qualities of each person I meet, and I endeavor to empower others by sharing my resources.

Holding a deep-rooted passion for community service, I transitioned from 10 years in a corporate setting into a therapeutic capacity. Since 2011, I have guided individuals on how to heal through (re)embodiment and empowerment while promoting stability, consistency, safety, and transparency. During this time, I worked collaboratively for four years with a multidisciplinary team at a private residential facility dedicated to providing treatment for individuals experiencing complex and acute PTSD, mental health challenges, and addictions.

Movement practices have informed my life, starting with ballet, yoga, running, and currently through Qigong. In addition to my certification as a C-IAYT® certified yoga therapist, I am a Recreational Therapist with a specialization in developmental trauma, specifically focusing on Complex PTSD in adults. My work predominantly concentrates on the recalibration of issues related to overwhelm, dissociation, anxiety, depression, chronic pain, impulsivity, addictions, grief, anger, and neurodiversity. I support development of the brain and nervous system through the integration of infant reflexes that some people keep into adulthood. These reflexes are natural and present in all babies, and addressing them can enhance overall lived experiences. I am also a Somatic Experiencing® practitioner. Sessions may include Rhythmic Movement (RMTi)© primitive reflex integration, Somatic Experiencing®, Transforming Touch® supportive touch techniques, mindfulness practices, breath work, and movement.

As a Registered Naturotherapist with Association des Naturothérapeutes Professionnels du Québec (ANQ) and Academy of Naturopaths and Naturotherapists of Canada (ACNN), I can provide receipts for private health insurance plans. While functional in French, my sessions are offered in English.

I offer my reverence to Kanienʼkehá꞉ka and Ho-De-No-Sau-Nee-Ga people, and to this land on which I live and work.

Benefits

In my work, I follow a humanistic, person-centered, strengths-based approach. This means that my clients will receive acceptance and support, regardless of the state they may be in. The benefits of this approach may include:

  • Increased positive emotional states, creativity, vitality, and physical energy

  • Ability to attend to your needs first while caring for others

  • Increased felt sense of your healthy boundaries

  • Improved sleep and ability to rest

  • Decreased symptoms related to chronic pain, migraines, digestive issues, and other dis-ease

  • Increased presence in your daily life and comfort in your own skin

  • Increased ability to fluctuate between different states of intensity in life without feeling stuck

  • Decreased physiological patterns of impulsivity, survival, or coping that no longer align with how you want to show up in the world

Collaboratively, we explore how presence, safety, courage, autonomy, pleasure, and growth intersect for you.

Services

Somatic Therapy

“Somatics” are the lived experiences of our bodies. In our sessions, you (re)learn how to be comfortable in your own skin so your attention can be redirected toward other purposes. By resetting and expanding your nervous system’s responses, your day-to-day life can feel less overwhelming, and your access to joy, connection, trust, physical energy, and rest increases.

Leisure Counselling

In leisure counselling, we address the notion of free time, be it too much or too little. Together, we build a personalized plan to bring meaning, choice, and fun into your life.

“Karen brings integrity to her work and has proven herself to be adaptive and adept at providing trauma-informed care and creating stability, consistency, and connection for her clients.”
